It’s Aries Season | Birthday Book Tag

My birthday is on Friday, April 12th. I’ll finally be 21 and I’m elated. Lately (probably because it’s Aries season and all), I’ve been really into researching astrology. I don’t put all my stock into it, but I still find it intriguing. Yes, I’m aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I like learning about it since my attributes are pretty damn accurate.

Aries Background

If you don’t know anything about Aries, I’ll give you a quick rundown.

Our symbol is the ram. This means we’re very headstrong and argumentative. Depending on your preferences, this can be seen as good or bad. I personally tend to have a very stubborn streak. I will argue for days. Because I’m right and I will let the world know. It frustrates people that I’m like this, but it’s also positive due to the fact that I refuse to let people walk all over me.

Aries’ ruling planet is Mars. Mars is very masculine and aggressive. I do agree that I have an aggressive personality. I tend to bulldoze right through situations without realizing it. Once again, this is not always a bad thing.

Also, if you’ve heard of the Greek god Ares, you’ll know he’s the god of war. Coincidence? I think not.

Some Aries attributes are that we are impulsive and reckless. We have been likened to a tornado: blowing through, making a mess, and leaving everyone dazed and confused. It’s one of those “it was fun while it lasted” scenarios.

Out of the three fire signs, Aries is typically thought of first. Aries is the cardinal fire sign which essentially means we’re energetic, constantly moving, and enthusiastic. Believe me when I say I exhaust myself just as much as I exhaust everyone else.

Another negative trait of ours is that we tend to love the chase more than the reward. If that isn’t the truest thing I’ve ever heard. This is usually in reference to one’s love life, but I have found it to hold true in various parts of my life. I’ll admit I’m pretty bad about that. I have around 11 partially-read books lying around. I’m aware that some people are cringing hard at that. I admire the people who don’t get bored reading one book at a time. Romance books are especially hard for me to get through once the main characters get together. I get bored easily.

I’m making myself look bad here. The truth is, we are one of the most misunderstood signs out there. When people hear Aries, they usually run away screaming. Not really. But sometimes. I promise we are very sensitive.

Our positive traits include, but are not limited to: ambitious, innovative, independent, and straightforward.

The Ram | A book with a hardheaded character

Any Harry Potter book will do because of the ever-stubborn Hermione. That girl can argue like there’s no tomorrow and I love it.

Fun fact: Emma Watson is actually an Aries.

Fire | A book with a fiery cover

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I mention this book a lot. My logic is the more I talk about it, the sooner I’ll start it.

Ambition | A book with an ambitious main character

My girl Jude from The Cruel Prince series by Holly Black immediately comes to mind when I think about ambition. Her ambition gets her into trouble a lot; nonetheless, it’s still inspiring.

Impulse | A book you bought on impulse

Ummmm all of them?

One book in particular that I bought strictly on impulse was Diary of an Oxygen Thief by Anonymous. I remember walking into Barnes and Noble and seeing it. It is a very, very thin book. I knew absolutely nothing about it. I looked at the cover, saw a depressing looking snowman, probably grunted or something, and bought it.

The Chase | A book where the build up was better than the reward

Piece of Work by Staci Hart

Once the two characters got together, I got bored. (It’s not the book’s fault, I’m difficult to entertain.)

Temperamental | A book that put you on an emotional roller coaster

The Wicked King by Holly Black. I’m still recovering from the reading slump that book put me into.

Independent | Favorite book written by an indie author

Anything You Can Do by R.S. Grey is still one of my favorites. It’s so sweet and poor Daisy is completely ruled by her competitiveness in that book.

Let me know in the comments if you believe in astrology (if so, what’s your sign?) or whether it’s total bull.
